Brian P. Schmidt Biography



Brian P. Schmidt (born in Missoula, Montana, USA, February 24, 1967) is a citizen physicist Australia-United States who received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2011 with Saul Perlmutter and Adam G. Riess for the discovery of accelerating expansion of the universe through observations of distant supernovae.


Schmidt is a research astrophysicist at the Australian National University, Australia. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona in 1989 and obtained his PhD from Harvard University in 1993.
