Uwais Qorny (or are recognized as Iko Uwais was born in Jakarta, February 12, 1983, age 29 years) are the actors, choreographers, film, and athletes Pencak Silat Indonesia. She made her debut in the movie business when it plays Yuda, a Minangkabau overseas in the movie Going away in 2009.
Early life
Iko raised in a Betawi (native Jakarta). Since the age of 10 he studied traditional Indonesian martial arts, martial arts, the college farm of his uncle, Three Chain, the Betawi arts wing. In 2003, Iko won third place in the martial arts tournament in Jakarta. In 2005, he became the best fighter in the category of demonstrations at the National Silat Championship.
Besides martial arts, Iko also actively playing football. In her first experience acting in Merantau, Iko plays a young Minang of West Sumatra, where he studied Silat Minang typical Tiger (Sumatran tiger style) of Guru Silat, Datuk Rajo Gampo Alam Edwel. "Going away" was released in Indonesia on August 6, 2009. The film was shown in Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (International Fantastic Film Festival) in Puchon, South Korea and the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas with a very positive review. Death invasion
Iko second collaboration with Gareth Evans is a movie called Invasion of Death (later released as an international "The Raid", which began filming in mid-March 2011 and was released internationally, which is on March 22, 2012 in Australia and New Zealand; 23 March 2012 in Indonesia and North America and May 18, 2012 in the UK. The film was further boosted after the name Iko responded by critics and audiences at various festivals as one of the best martial arts movies after a period of years. In this film also served as choreographer Iko with fellow actor / fighter Sam Ruhian.
Iko third film, which is being planned with Gareth, tentatively titled as "punk". The Raid is the sequel will begin filming in late 2012.
Accomplishments as an athlete
In the event of Pencak Silat, Iko ever achievement as a Champion III, Regional Inter-University Championship Jakarta 2003, and as the Best Performance category at the Festival Adult Single Pencak Silat Cibubur 2005.
