Joachim Low
Joachim Low (born in Schönau, West Germany, February 3, 1960, age 52 years) is a former German football player who once played in the attacking midfielder position. Currently, he coached the German national team.

Career as player

In 1978, Loew began his career playing with 2. Bundesliga club SC Freiburg. He returned to the club twice (1982, 1985). In 1980, Loew joined VfB Stuttgart in the Fußball-Bundesliga, but he had trouble building the starting lineup and played only four games. In the 1981-82 season, playing for Eintracht Frankfurt Loew (24 games, five goals), but he returned to Freiburg in the following year. In 1982-83, he scored eight goals in 34 games, 1983-84 he scored 17 goals in 31 games in 2. Bundesliga. After that, he returned to the Bundesliga with Karlsruher SC, but he only scored two goals in 24 games. Later, he joined Freiburg again for four years, playing 116 matches and scored 38 goals. Loew concluded his career in Switzerland, where he played for FC Schaffhausen (1989-1992) and FC Winterthur (1992-1994).
Loew played four times for the German U-21 national soccer team.


Club coach

Loew's coaching career began as a youth coach for FC Winterthur while he was still active as a player. In 1994-95, he was playing coach of FC Frauenfeld.


In 1995-96, he was an assistant coach of VfB Stuttgart with coach Rolf Fringer. As Fringer had the opportunity to be a Swiss national coach, Loew promoted to interim manager in August 1996 and finally the team manager. With the "Magic Triangle" consists of a player called Krassimir Balakov, Giovane Elber and Fredi Bobic, the team played a successful season and won the National Cup (DFB Pokal-). The following year, his team finished fourth in the Bundesliga and reach the European Cup Winners Cup final, but they lost 1-0 against Chelsea.


Loew left Stuttgart in July 1998 and joined Fenerbahce. In October 1999, he became coach of Karlsruher SC, but he could not avoid relegation to the third division and dismissed. From December 2000 until March 2001, Loew returned to Turkey as Adanaspor coach, but he again fired for poor results.
In October 2001, Loew coach Tirol Innsbruck and Austria lead the team to the championship in 2002. In the same year, the club must be declared bankrupt and liquidated. Loew once again unemployed. His last job at club level with FK Austria Wien (June 2003 - March 2004).
